Knife River

Knife River Minnesota is a small unincorporated village along the north shore of Lake Superior.  Patricia Canelake has lived there for the past 19 years. Before moving to Knife River, she lived in rural Duluth Township in her hand-built house. Later she taught media arts in St. Paul Minnesota at Highland Park Senior High School and worked as an adjunct teacher at local colleges.

Knife River is where she chooses to work in her two studios which are side by side in her back yard. One is a large painting studio and the other a smaller printmaking studio.  She shares the printmaking studio with visiting artists. These printmaking studio residencies are an arm of the Little Knife Artist Residencies founded by Frank Sander.
