Provincetown Fine Arts Work Center

I was invited to the Fine Arts Work Center in Provincetown, Massachusetts by Heidi Marben.  We shared a summer rental in 1986, and I rented 1/3 of a coal bin studio.  The FAWC was originally a lumberyard, turned into an artist’s residency.  I often returned there to paint and to learn printmaking.

My printmaking interests were ignited by workshops at The Fine Arts Work Center in Provincetown, Massachusetts where I worked & painted in the summers starting in the late 1980’s.  Through studies with Vicky Tomayko, Bert Yarborough, James Stroud, and Andrew Mockler skills and insights into the Monoprint and varied printmaking processes were acquired.

The monoprint is considered a painterly print and this suited my style and approach.  Techniques used alone or in conjunction with each other include the monoprint, etching, chine-Collé, paper-plate lithography and silkscreen. Prints below were created in Provincetown and in Knife River.
